Machine Quilting & Quilting Services
Classic Quilts Creations is happy to provide machine quilting and other quilt related services.
There are several quilting techniques that can be provided. The custom long arm quilting we provide for you is free motion, hand guided by the quilter and not computer programmed. Please understand that because some of the designs are hand drawn and operator executed your final product will naturally have small variations. The end results will enhance the hand made look that we all love and cherish in our quilts.
You will want to take into consideration that stitch in the ditch, echo quilting and diagonal crosshatching may seem simple, but are actually very difficult and challenging on the long arm. Such quilting will be considered custom quilting and fee adjusted accordingly. Pricing is on an individual basis.
Quilting pricing is based on the square inch. To figure a rough estimate take the length times the width of your quilt to get the total square inches. Multiply the total square inches by your choice of quilting. Example: 72” X 90” = 6480 square inches. 6480 square inches X $ .02 =$129.60. There is a minimum charge of $40.00
Maximum width we can quilt is 120 inches. Please allow 6 – 8 weeks for quilting. Custom orders may take longer.
Meandering: $ .015 - .02 depending on density with one thread color.
Pantograph: $ .02 - .03 depending on density with one thread color. (We will gladly purchase any pantograph you would like us to use if we don’t have it.)
Simple Edge to Edge: $ .02 - This is one simple pattern over your entire quilt with one thread color.

Helpful Tips for Preparing Your Quilt Top
Press the back of your top well and make sure that all seams are pressed flat on the back and facing in the desired direction. Starch is useful.
Cut off all excess threads from the edge and back of your quilt. You have put a lot of time and effort into piecing your top and would not want to have threads showing through on lighter areas of your quilt top.
Please mark your quilt “Top” with a safety pin or other method so we will quilt it properly.
Make sure you have squared up your top. This will allow us to load your quilt on the machine in a uniform direction.
Preparing the Back:
The best choice of fabric for your backing is the same type of fabrics you used in your top. Try to avoid polyester fabrics as this can cause the batting to shift and may cause tucks and puckering during quilting.
When piecing your backing, please make sure all pieces are the same length on the top and bottom so you have a straight cut on each end. Press your seams flat and toward the darker fabric if you use more than one fabric.
We need for your backing and batting to be 8 inches wider and longer than your top. If you provide packaged batting, we will cut this to size for you.
Note on Backing: Please do not use sheets for backing. The weave is very different than cotton quilting fabric and can cause tension problems or thread breakage.
Quilt Border Tip: When attaching the borders, make the quilt fit the border rather than the border fit the quilt. Measure the middle of the quilt rather than the edges, as they may stretch. If your borders are larger than the quilt, you will have a rippled border and this may require tucks or pleats.
Scraps: If we trim your quilt, please let us know if you would like your scraps sent back to you or if you would like us to use them for charity quilts. We make quilts for Quilts Beyond Borders and dog beds for our local animal shelter.
The Studio is attached to is smoke free home. Occasionally my old small grand dog visits for a few hours. If that is a problem, please let me know and he will stay home while your quilt is being worked on.
